Bri was dumped in the late afternoon at a Memphis park and the people drove off leaving her to fend for herself. This poor puppy's back leg was taped up with duct tape. Animal advocates rescued this puppy and took her to a vet to clean the leg and board her overnight. The Savior Foundation was contacted to help this puppy. Even though our funds are extremely low, we could not turn away this poor puppy, Bri.
Our vet, Dr. Zinkus and Germantown Parkway Animal Hospital, squeezed her in due to the criticality of her condition. We met Bri at GPAH and and saw the terrible condition of her back leg. Unfortunately, her back leg is so badly injured that it is bent backwards. Since the leg is bent backwards, the top of that paw is raw and infected due to having to drag it along the ground. Unfortunately, the leg will need to be amputated. Also, she has to wait a couple of weeks for the surgery, since she has hookworms and the medicine could cause her to bleed out.
GPAH also bathed Bri, gave her vaccinations, tested her for heartworms (and is negative), and gave her antibiotics and pain medication. They believe her to be about 8 months old. Even though Bri has had a very rough life, she is so sweet and loving. She was giving everyone lots of kisses!
The Savior Foundation is so fortunate to work with John and Nancy Travis, who are our medical fosters. They happened to have room to care for Bri and they didn't hesitate to take her into their home. They take great care of pets needing medical care and rehabilitation.
One of the animal advocates who rescued Bri, Kunal Jadhav, covered the initial vet visit and boarding. We still need A LOT of donations to cover her second major medical visit and her future amputation and medical treatments.
We are so happy to have so many wonderful people helping Bri start her journey to a happier and healthier life. Please help Bri with that journey. All donations are very much appreciated!
